High Street and St Mary's Street are now closed to cars, making travel to the Centre by car difficult. Also there is no parking available at the Centre and car parking costs in the city are high. You are advised, if possible, to take public transport to the bus or train stations; however road directions are given below for your information.
From the east: leave the M4 at junction A48 (M) and continue along Eastern Avenue (A48) into Western Avenue. Take the left-hand fork into Mill Lane, (just after Tesco on your left) then turn left into Cardiff Road and next left into Cathedral Road. Follow Cathedral Road to the bottom crossing the traffic lights at the end of the road into Lower Cathedral Road. Carry on straight across the mini roundabout into Clare Street. At the next traffic lights carry straight on into Clare Road (under the railway bridge) until you come to the junction with Penarth Road. At these lights turn left into Penarth Road. Carry on along this road through two sets of traffic lights and at the third turn left at the roundabout junction into St Mary's Street. Take the right hand lane and turn right into Custom House Street. The Open University is the red brick building on your right.
From the west: from the A48 follow signs to City Centre down Cowbridge Road West and at Ely roundabout, turn right into Cowbridge Road East. Follow this road until it meets the junction with Neville Street get in the right hand lane (St David's Hospital is on the left). Turn right into Neville Street then at the mini roundabout turn right into Clare Street. At the next traffic lights carry straight on into Clare Road (under the railway bridge) until you come to the junction with Penarth Road. At these lights turn left into Penarth Road. Carry on along this road through two sets of traffic lights and at the third turn left at the roundabout junction into St Mary's Street. Take the right hand lane and turn right into Custom House Street. The Open University is the red brick building on your right.
From the north: from the A470 travel down North Road following this road into Castle Street. Carry on until the junction with Lower Cathedral Road (over the river with the Westgate pub on the left hand corner). Turn left into Lower Cathedral Road then carry on straight across the mini roundabout into Clare Street. At the next traffic lights carry straight on into Clare Road (under the railway bridge) until you come to the junction with Penarth Road. At these lights turn left into Penarth Road. Carry on along this road through two sets of traffic lights and at the third turn left at the roundabout junction into St Mary's Street. Take the right hand lane and turn right into Custom House Street. The Open University is the red brick building on your right.
There is very limited parking, especially during the daytime. However, there are a number of large multi-storey car parks located in the City Centre near the office as indicated on the map above.
Cardiff Central Bus Station is approximately a 3 minute walk away from the office.
Cardiff Central Railway Station is approximately a 3 minute walk away from the office.
Cardiff Airport is about 10 miles west of the City. Buses run from the airport at 6.48 am and then at 23 minutes past the hour from 9.40 am to 6.50 pm to the City Bus Station which is adjacent to the Central Railway Station. From there the office is approximately a 3 minute walk.
