I decided to switch from the full History degree in order to complete this module through the more general Art and Humanities degree as I enjoyed the religious studies aspects so much in OU level 1.
I did find the step up to OU level 2 quite challenging but the structure and course content were well laid out, clear and a similar consistent format as the L1 modules.
A227 has provided a whole wealth of information on a variety of religions from all over the world which I found fascinating and also on occasion took me outside of my comfort zone and challenged my thinking. The staff support and information access was excellent. Lots of forum discussions, resources and help to access.
My tutor was very supportive and provided positive and constructive feedback that helped develop my critical analysis and general learning further, preparing me for other modules.
A good module to study for those who want to know how to study religions of all kinds and the various methods used by scholars both historically and in the modern day.

Fascinating introduction to Religion – a wide-ranging yet deep look into various aspects of this topic. I chose the module as having just completed Early Modern European history, how can one expect to get historical periods with religious aspects without knowing something of religion being personally indifferent to faiths, and this – not everyone's cup of tea helped bring identities to life previously to me rather 2-Dimensional. Great module, loved it. Just done 'Why is Religion Controversial' (A332) as enjoyed A227 so much.

An excellent module run by a helpful module team with some excellent tutors.

The course content is varied, interesting and introduced me to different religious traditions and ideas about religiosity and spirituality that have really broadened my outlook on life and other people's experiences.

I found that it helps to attend as many tutorials as possible whilst getting to know your own tutor and their specific requirements, as they are the ones marking your assignments, and are there to support you.

This is truly a great module, full of very interesting ideas and information on what makes society tick and how religions have evolved over the centuries. Keeping away from theology and focusing on the critical examination of the course concepts, helped prevent issues that could drag the subject and module down. In addition, I found support from the tutor and the rest of the faculty on the religious forum (even after the module was finished) motivating and interesting. This support and continued input (rather than the subject) is why I will return again to study the next Religion subject 'Why is Religion Controversial (A332)' in the future, just not now. Thanks and keep at it.
