I found this module quite a step up from OU level 2 despite studying the same discipline the year before. Very rewarding and set at a fast but measured pace which suited me.
I particularly liked the wide date range as it opened up more opportunities to learn things that particularly interested me. My favourite was the India section, and the combination of architecture with silk weaving, photography and painting was a huge highlight for me. If you particularly like one area of art, then there is plenty of scope in this module to spend time with what you love. And in the end, I even got to appreciate politics and learn to love Modern Art!
I particularly liked that there are 5 tutor-marked assignments (TMAs) as this meant if I struggled on one, then it wasn't such a high weighting across the course as a whole. (The module I am currently studying has 4 TMAs so if you struggle with one, it costs you a significant amount of marks.) I would also add that the TMA for planning the end-of-module assessment (EMA) was required quite early on, and this meant I took on a much larger subject than I might have done had I got a bit more experience with the module. Choose your EMA choices carefully!
I loved the module overall and was rewarded with a grade that I am delighted with.
