This course was really interesting. It was demanding in that in order to score well a fair amount of research was needed on specific leaders for tutor-marked assignments. I found it rewarding, stimulating and really interesting. I learned a great deal about the concepts of leadership and in particular personality, identity and ethics work was fascinating. I enjoyed the challenge of critical thinking which was also an essential component of the course. The materials are also very well produced and the online work has a logical pathway. I was also very lucky in that I had a terrific tutor who made tutorials interesting and fun.

The assignments in this module followed the same format each time. The advantage of this was that you are able to use the feedback to improve each assignment as you go along. The downside is that it feels a little repetitive (although you are putting it in the context of different theories each time).
I very much liked having the freedom of choice around the leaders I studied. I picked a really varied selection of people about whom I previously knew very little e.g. Karl Marx, Bono, Martha Stewart; this really brought the theory to life for me.
The contributions to online forums were graded but were not overly onerous.
I would definitely recommend this module if you are interested in exploring leadership from a range of different perspectives.
