Student reviews

This module is very good. I highly recommend it. The selection of topics is good with at least an introduction to chaos and stochastic differential equations. The emphasis on stability for non-linear systems is covered very well. The last book is exceptional. Especially the way that the heat equation is shown to be equivalent to the diffusion equation, with a derivation starting from how an initial concentration of particles diffuses over time towards a new equilibrium. I thought this was outstanding in its development and is one of those experiences that really stays with you because of the basic fundamental understanding.
So there is is. It's a great module.

Module satisfaction survey

The figures below are taken from a survey of students who sat the exam/completed the end-of-module assessment for the October 2016 presentation of MS327. The survey was carried out in 2017.

75 students (a response rate of 32.6%) responded to the survey covering what they thought of 10 aspects of the module.

Please note that if the percentage of students who responded to this module survey is below 30% and/or the number of responses is below 23 it means that only a small proportion of students provided feedback and their views as shown here may not be fully representative of all students who studied the module.

See this page for the full text of questions and more information about the survey.

Faculty comment: We're pleased to see that the great majority of respondents were satisfied with the quality of the module and its materials, their study experience, and support. This is a very positive outcome for a module in its first year. The module team will endeavour to build and improve on these figures even further in the future.,
