Student reviews

The module offers a range of computational mathematics topics, including numerical methods, optimisation, and mathematical modelling. The course provides hands-on experience with various algorithms and software tools, enabling students to solve complex mathematical problems and apply these techniques to real-world scenarios.

Tutors and the module teams were supportive, providing detailed feedback on assignments and projects, which was invaluable for improving my work and gaining confidence in applying computational techniques. TMAs can be challenging to complete on time, but the effort is worthwhile once finished. Being proficient in programming, especially with Python and data science libraries, will aid in your success.

In conclusion, MST374 was one of my favourite modules so far. The course's blend of theory and practical application was challenging and rewarding. I highly recommend this module if you are interested in applied mathematics with Python, Pandas, Numpy, and SciPy. The experience has broadened my knowledge, enhanced my problem-solving abilities and prepared me for further studies or professional work in computational mathematics.
