Student reviews

I loved this course! Yes there were teething problems, but the team was always on hand to accept our criticisms and any noticed mistakes on the materials. The online tutorials were fab, entertaining, informative, interactive and fun. I felt we all received the same learning opportunities. We had national and tutor group tutorials.

the experiments and observations we carried out brought diversity to the learning techniques and kept me interested in the reading materials.

The residential was a blast! I was never much use at school and in the classroom so was aprehensive, but it was so good to get together with fellow students and have a good chin wag (moan). The tutors and staff there were great and I got more out of that weekend than the whole of some other modules. Highly recommended. Wish I could do it again!

Course starting: October 2014

Module satisfaction survey

The figures below are taken from a survey of students who sat the exam/completed the end-of-module assessment for the October 2016 presentation of S295. The survey was carried out in 2017.

68 students (a response rate of 24.5%) responded to the survey covering what they thought of 10 aspects of the module.

Please note that if the percentage of students who responded to this module survey is below 30% and/or the number of responses is below 23 it means that only a small proportion of students provided feedback and their views as shown here may not be fully representative of all students who studied the module.

See this page for the full text of questions and more information about the survey.

Faculty comment: "The module team is grateful to the students who responded to the survey. We're particularly encouraged that the majority continued to enjoy the module content and appreciate their developing practical skills through the investigations. Respondents rated most things higher than in previous surveys, with improved satisfaction with the quality of the materials (minor revisions are made in response to student feedback) and continued to rate highly, the study support provided. There was less dissatisfaction with the method of online-only delivery (no books) and despite this newer method of delivery requiring some adjustment to individual study methods, student retention and success rates remained high."
