Student reviews

Although the workload was sometimes overwhelming, this was a really interesting and fun module. I did enjoy the group work and using conflict analysis tools, those aspects really helped open up the course in a way I had not experienced in an OU module before and they made it quite enjoyable.

If you choose to do this module, I would expect to be doing at least 2 hours every day on average to keep on top of the course workload and at least 2-3 full days for each of the tutor marked assignments. There was plenty of time at the end of the module to revise for the exam, which was really useful. The 3 hour exam itself was pretty standard and very well organised by the OU.

Overall, an engaging module but one with a lot of reading involved.

Module satisfaction survey

The figures below are taken from a survey of students who sat the exam/completed the end-of-module assessment for the May 2016 presentation of T879. The survey was carried out in 2016.

28 students (a response rate of 45.9%) responded to the survey covering what they thought of 10 aspects of the module.

Please note that if the percentage of students who responded to this module survey is below 30% and/or the number of responses is below 23 it means that only a small proportion of students provided feedback and their views as shown here may not be fully representative of all students who studied the module.

See this page for the full text of questions and more information about the survey.

Faculty comment: "The Module Team is pleased that the majority of respondents were satisfied with the quality, teaching materials, assessment, tutor support and online delivery of module materials. We are particularly delighted to note an improvement in satisfaction with the workload, from 51.6% in May 2015 to 71.4% in May 2016. This coincides with further written and audio module guidance provided by the course team, and consistent support from the Tutors as seen in the responses. We also note that clarity of information about what to study and when garnered a 100% satisfaction rate in both May 2015 and May 2016, and this is something we will seek to maintain. "
