Really interesting course that is a fantastic preparation for studying at university level. You are really guided and encouraged to improve study skills.

Fantastic course and a very well presented option as a return to study for those (like myself) who have been out of education for a while.
The topics were engaging and diverse and the tutor was first class, always on hand to answer questions and offer constructive criticism and feedback.
A great introduction to studying with the Open University in terms of meeting TMA deadlines, learning how to reference and of course the study of society. Highly recommended.

I did this course as an Introduction to the Open University alongside Y183 Starting with psychology. I found the course didn't take as long as I expected, and although the course was due to finish in March I started a 60 credit module at the end of January. My tutor was very helpful and I thoroughly enjoyed the course and found it to be new to me despite having just completed a Sociology A level. I would definitely recommend this course.

This was a big step for me as I had not studied since leaving school! I chose an Openings Course as an introduction back into the learning and studying process.
I thoroughly enjoyed the course! It has been a great experience and a real confidence booster. My tutor was a great help and only a phonecall or email away whenever I needed him.
I would say to anyone thinking of doing an Open University course go for it as in my case, it's never too late and you won't regret it!

Great course and I thoroughly enjoyed doing it. The materials and information provided were very good. The only issue I had was with my tutor! She only ever contacted me at the start and I never heard from her again despite trying to email her. As it was I really didnt need any outside advice and found the course led me along just fine.
