Successfully completed study from overseas may well be able to count for credit towards Open University qualifications.
In order to be eligible for an award of transferred credit, both your previous qualification and the previous institution at which you studied it must be shown on this website.
You can check whether your qualification is eligible for credit by choosing the relevant area from the map or from the dropdown list below. You will then see a list of recognised qualifications: you need to select the name of your previous qualification, and then check that your previous institution is one of the recognised institutions of Higher Education appearing on that webpage.
In making decisions on the award of credit for overseas study, the Open University has consulted the UK National Academic Recognition Information Centre. The University is grateful to UK NARIC for the information and advice they have provided.
If you think you are eligible for Credit Transfer, you should now read 'FAQs' and 'How to Apply'. If your claim includes study at an overseas institution, you must send us an official translation of the certificate, academic transcript and syllabus. Open University Co-ordinators can authenticate your original documents or translations, but cannot provide translations.
Please note:
Although we recognise certain qualifications as containing credit at level 3, any award of transferred credit will be made at level 1 and/or 2 only, as the level 3 study requirements for OU awards must be met by OU study or collaborative course credit.
Credit cannot be awarded for study undertaken before January 1971. Towards some OU qualifications, there are further time restrictions - please check the How to apply section.
