<description>The Faculty is looking to appoint a Project Officer to work primarily in the Integrated Waste Systems research group (IWS) and work with the Ecosystems Research Group (ERG) as required. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Your main responsibility will be to manage the IWS biodegradability testing facilities and to undertake biodegradability testing of waste and novel materials for research purposes and for commercial clients.  Other work will include contributing a range of skills to projects within IWS and ERG involving laboratory and field procedures, for example: sampling environmental and waste materials, sample preparation, chemical extractions and digests, analysis by gas chromatography and gaseous emissions monitoring by FTIR and associated techniques.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;You should have a degree or equivalent in a relevant scientific subject such as Environmental Science, Soil Science, Applied Waste Management. <title>Research Associate in English, Faculty of Arts</title>
<description>The AHRC-funded major cross-institutional, multi-disciplinary research project, &#8216;Making Britain: South Asian Visions of Home and Abroad&#8217; was set up in 2007 and led by The Open University, in collaboration with the Universities of Oxford and London and with the British Library as the main partner. The project examined the formative South Asian contributions to Britain&#8217;s cultural, literary and political life in the period 1870-1950.  It received further funding from The Open University and the AHRC to develop follow-on projects, &#8216;Archiving Britain&#8217;s South Asian Heritage&#8217; (2010-11) and &#8216;Beyond the Frame: Indian British Connections, 1858-1950&#8217; (2011-12). Though the formal funding period of the project is over, it continues to develop further spin-off public engagement activities which have expanded from the original bids. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The Research Associate will work in support of the aim of developing on-going knowledge exchange partnerships, particularly with the British Library. You will be responsible for maintaining and developing the project website and will assist with event organisation, research and co-drafting of future funding bids, as well as developing independent research outputs.
