An international partnership that has seen more than 60,000 managers throughout Russia and neighbouring countries develop their business and management skills is marking its 15th anniversary.

The OU Business School’s partnership with the International Institute of Management LINK sees more than 7,000 people – in 96 study centres across 10 time zones – studying at any one time.

To date, about 12,500 people have completed the OU Business School’s Professional Certificate in Management through the project. A total of 4,500 people have completed the higher-level Professional Diploma in Management and 265 people have completed the OU Business School MBA through the project.

Professor James Fleck, Dean of the OU Business School, said he and his colleagues were proud of the contribution that the partnership and the School continue to make in developing management and business education in Russia and CIS countries.

“The partnership has always aimed to enable managers throughout Russia and neighbouring countries to study via the OU Business School’s distinctive and flexible learning methods, allowing them to gain knowledge, develop new skills and add value to their organisation while continuing to work and develop their careers,” he said.

“The longevity of the partnership and the immense scale that it continues to enjoy demonstrate undoubtedly that the partnership is meeting that aim. The partnership remains one of the most successful of any UK business school and an international partner.”

Through the partnership, the OU Business School’s Professional Certificate in Management and Professional Diploma in Management are presented in Russian. The School’s internationally recognised MBA programme is presented in English; for the MBA programme, School tutors fly to Russia for face-to-face tutorials and its students attend residential schools held in the UK and Europe, where they have the opportunity to meet and network with MBA students from across the world.

Anniversary celebrations included a visit by IIM LINK staff and representatives to the OU Business School headquarters in Milton Keynes and a visit to the University’s East of England regional office in Cambridge.

IIM Link is a private higher education institution accredited by the Russian Ministry of Education to offer management and leadership courses.
