Last orders at the pub, bargain supermarkets, rent or buy? The Money Programme has got it all covered

The Money Programme

The Money Programme

The popular Open University and BBC co-production, The Money Programme, returns for a new series on BBC Two at 7:30pm from 30 October 2008.

Five of the eight programmes in the series will explore different aspects of the credit crunch. The run starts with an examination of the HBOS story. Other programmes look at how consumers took advantage of easy money when the going was good, and how more people are now turning to bargain supermarkets to curb their spending. The series will also ask why so many of us are obsessed with owning our own homes and what the future holds for pubs in increasingly tough trading conditions.

Regular presenter Max Flint will be joined by several guest presenters, including Janet Street-Porter, Gregg Wallace, and Fiona Bruce.

Dr Gabriel Reedy from The Open University Business School and academic consultant for the series, said: “The autumn series will shed some light on the issues which are straining the economy and how we are dealing with it. If viewers want more information on specific topics, they will be able to read articles and blogs from OU Business School academics on the open2.net website. Additional footage of the programmes will also be available on this site.“
