The Open University (OU) is now an approved Training Partner of the National Skills Academy for IT Training Partner Network.
The Partner Network was created by the Skills Academy to help IT professionals access the highest quality learning and resources which employers in the sector value.
The Skills Academy identifies and encourages the best providers for IT professional education and training to work together to promote excellence in learning and development. Partners provide cost-effective learning opportunities that enable career progression and recognition for the IT professional workforce.
The Open University was approved as a Training Partner based upon its excellence in providing Higher Education for the IT industry. The OU offers industry-accredited IT courses through its alliances with Microsoft and CISCO. Additionally, the OU is training IT professionals to be IT leaders through its Chief Information Officer courses, offered in partnership with the CIO Executive Council.
Karen Price, CEO of e-skills UK, said: “The Training Partner Network is aimed at identifying and making available the best in IT training for everyone working in the UK’s IT sector. By bringing together providers from a range of backgrounds, including the Open University, the National Skills Academy for IT is able to innovate and improve the skills development opportunities for a sector that is critical to the growth of the UK economy.”
Kevin Streater, Head of IT Industry Engagement at The Open University, said: “With 21,000 students studying computing and ICT courses and home to the biggest and fastest growing CISCO Academy in the UK, the OU makes an obvious and welcome addition to the Partner Network.”
