The recent win by the Red Bull Racing Formula One team - will attract further investment in Milton Keynes, predicted a key member of the city’s Economic Development Panel today.
Lucian Hudson, Director of Communications at The Open University, said: “The win could trigger further economic success if it builds on this week’s news that Milton Keynes is the most attractive local authority area in England for prospective business and investment.”
Mr Hudson explained: “Success breeds success, something that Milton Keynes can illustrate through the recent local growth figures that buck the more static UK economic trends. For Red Bull, being located in Milton Keynes doubtless made it easier to attract talented employees and cutting edge business partners, in turn enabling better performance and results. In short Red Bull Racing Formula One team’s success has provided a perfect case study of the virtuous economic circle that is beginning to embrace Milton Keynes.”
“What we would hope for going forward is that these close relationships continue to grow, creating a ‘halo’ effect not only for The OU but for the Milton Keynes area as a whole, inspiring other businesses to relocate to here too. This we believe will, in turn, increase local investment, employment opportunities and the need to provide an on-going focus on training and development.”
For The Open University, there is a very the natural link between business and education. Work undertaken to help re-skill and up skill staff can benefit not only individual business but the local economy as a whole.
