The first Arab Open University International Conference on Open Learning

The first Arab Open University International Conference on Open Learning: Role, Challenges and Aspirations will take place on 25 – 27 November 2013 at the Arab OU in Kuwait.

The conference will explore the future tools, techniques and challenges associated with the development of an effective educational system. It is organised jointly by the Arab Open University (AOU) in collaboration with RedSOFT (Regional Center for Development of Educational Software).

The conference aims to increase awareness of the importance of open learning and its role in development in the world and specifically in the Arab region, provoke interest in independent learning, prepare different educational system stakeholders for lifelong learning, spread awareness of quality standards and quality assurance in open learning and suggest solutions for the different technological, psycho-social and bureaucratic challenges in open learning.

The three themes are:
• Techniques and methods of open learning and the required learning resources
• Academic accreditation for open learning degrees and institutions
• International trends and experiences in open learning

The deadline for papers is 30 April 2013.
