The Open University celebrates achievements of businesses in Milton Keynes

The Open University (OU) has announced its support for the second annual Milton Keynes Business Achievement Awards (MKBAA) with sponsorship of the ‘Business of the Year’ award, 2015.

The OU joined fellow sponsors at a launch event held at The Casino MK, which was hosted by founders of the awards, the Milton Keynes Business Leaders Partnership (MKBLP).

Steve Hill, Commercial Director, The Open University, presented the first Milton Keynes ‘Business of the Year’ award to Niftylift in March 2014 and will again present the 2015 award. He said:

“Celebrating the accomplishments and successes of the organisations that contribute to our thriving local economy is something that we are passionate about at the OU. We are proud to support the MKBLP as part of our ongoing initiative to increase engagement with Milton Keynes partners.”

Lucian Hudson, Director of Communications at the OU. was invited by Chair of the MKBLP, Dr Philip Smith to represent the University at the launch. He said:

“The MKBAA is a terrific way to showcase innovative businesses in Milton Keynes. We are thrilled to sponsor the award for the second consecutive year. As the home of a world leading Business School, we understand the importance of recognising the business leaders of tomorrow.”

Over 500 guests from businesses across the borough attended the inaugural MKBAA ceremony to celebrate the achievements of those who had been shortlisted for an award. Held at the Double Tree by Hilton Hotel in March 2014, the evening was compered by Bill Turnbull, BBC broadcaster. Next year’s MKBAA will be on Thursday 12 March 2015 will be hosted by Kate Adie, BBC broadcaster and former war correspondent.
