OU science lecture about the impact of volcanoes
FROM UNDERGROUND TO OUTER SPACE: STUDYING THE IMPACT OF VOLCANOES
Join academics from The Open University’s Science Faculty on Tuesday 30 June for a lecture about the impact of volcanoes and whether we are now better equipped to spot the signs of major volcanic eruptions. They will discuss their most up-to-date research into volcanic eruptions and how it is helping to predict new hazards by mitigating their devastating effects. The will also talk about a system designed to monitor volcanoes from space. The event will be of interest to anyone who has a general interest in volcanoes - one of the world’s most phenomenal natural occurrences.
The speakers will be:
Dave McGarvie, Senior Lecturer
Professor Fabrizio Ferrucci, Professor in Geophysics
