The largest provider of open and distance learning in the UK and Ireland has invested £4.5 million in the future of higher education with a newly refurbished listed building at 110 Victoria Street. This will accommodate 58 university staff who support 360 part-time associate lecturers and more than 8,500 students throughout Ireland. The move will include provision of a brand new library accessible to students and members of the public.

Dr Rosemary Hamilton, Director of the OU in Ireland, said:
“This is an important move for us. Although we’re a national university, we operate at a local level with 18 study centres across Ireland to provide the support students need to undertake study at a higher education level. Moving to a central location in Belfast means there will be increasing accessibility to our services not only to OU students but also to members of the public who can pop in to chat to us about flexible study options or utilise our library facilities.

Supporting our students and opening access to education is central to what we do and we’re looking forward to continuing to provide higher education opportunities to people throughout Ireland from our new offices.”

The location and contact details of our Dublin Enquiry and Advice Centre remains unchanged.

Open to people, places, methods and ideas, The Open University provides high-quality university education to all.
