The Open Univerity in Ireland are planning a number of events and activities to celebrate the University's 40th anniversary.

Northern Ireland

  • The Minister for Employment and Learning, Sir Reg Empey, has invited the Open University to contribute to a new strategy for higher education.
  • The OU Assistant Director (Development) has been invited to represent the University on the Department for Employment and Learning’s (DEL) N.I. Foundation Degree Strategy Group.
  • The University has conducted an Equality Impact Assessment (EQIA) of its Staff Recruitment, Selection and Appointment Policies in compliance, as a designated public body, with Section 75 of the Northern Ireland Act 1998. The objective of the EQIA is to assess if our mission to be ‘open to people’ is delivered by these policies and reflected in the profile of our staff body in relation to that of the wider Northern Ireland community. The results of the EQIA are being analysed and will be presented in due course.
