The student's perspective
Marlene Burns of the Hague is a double graduate of the OU - with a BA Honours in Humanities and a Masters in History to her name. She looks back on her time with the OU with a feeling of achievement but also with great pleasure. 'Why did I study with the OU? Partly because I wanted the flexibility of being able to study part-time and partly because I knew the reputation the OU has gained as a centre of exellence. I was not disappointed - I found the study units easy to follow and well-planned but also thought-provoking and stimulating.' Marlene has gained lasting benefits from her study; 'My degrees have opened many new doors. The knowledge I have gained has given me confidence and also a desire to keep using the critical thought the OU taught me'.
