Professional recognition

Our series of Recognition leaflets tells you about the academic, vocational and professional areas in which Open University courses and qualifications can help you to gain entry or membership or exempt you from academic requirements.

These leaflets mention the professional bodies (e.g. British Psychological Society and Institution of Analysts and Programmers) whose policies we know about. Institutions not listed in the leaflets may also be willing to consider recognising Open University study, and the University is happy to support individual students in negotiations with professional bodies.

We are always pleased to receive information about recognition of Open University studies by professional bodies not yet included in our Recognition leaflets. If you need advice or can give us information, please contact the Communications Team.
