Psychology is a dynamic academic discipline, and widely regarded as one of the most intellectually challenging. It’s also the basis for a rewarding career. Counselling, education, human resources, the media and research are just some of the fields where psychology graduates are in great demand, not just for their specialist skills but for the broad range of abilities their training develops. Those who qualify to practise as professional psychologists can have a significant impact on public life by making a valuable contribution to healthcare, the economy or social justice, for example. Your interest in studying a postgraduate psychology course may be prompted by a variety of reasons. You may be looking to practise in a specialist area such as educational or occupational psychology, or perhaps you want to complement qualifications you may have in a different field of expertise. Choosing the OU means you’ll be learning with Europe’s largest provider of university-level education in psychology.
The Faculty of Social Sciences is currently reviewing its postgraduate curriculum. We are not able to provide any further information at present but we will publish details on this website as soon as our plans are confirmed.
If you started your studies in May 2011 you will need uninterrupted study in order to complete the required courses before these qualifications are withdrawn. The certificates and diplomas will no longer be available after December 2013, and the masters degrees won’t be available after December 2014.
