The Mathematics Group has an active research programme covering a wide range of topics in mathematics, with regular seminars, workshops and conferences. It is home to a number of research fellows, visiting researchers and both full-time and part-time research students. Research in the group centres on the following themes:
  • Pure mathematics
  • Applied mathematics
  • History of mathematics
  • Mathematics education.

Members of the group have research interests that span across these themes. They also engage in interdisciplinary research and proposals of interdisciplinary research projects are welcome.
