Public health is in the news. Scarcely a day goes by without a health-related story hitting the headlines, but what is enabling people to enjoy healthier lives really about? If you’re engaged in promoting public health, as a health and social care professional or as a voluntary worker, we have a programme to inform and empower your practice – now and in the future. Our Certificate in Promoting Public Health (C64) will help you explore and question approaches to public health in its broadest sense, from current policies and interventions to professional practice and people's everyday actions. It is designed to meet the needs of the four UK nations and embrace an international context, and is mapped against current public health competencies. By the end of your studies, you’ll have had the chance to test and evaluate different strategies and frameworks for action, and will have moved your practice forward significantly.
If you're fairly confident about studying, then start with Level 1 courses. You'll learn how to study at university level, get a thorough grounding in your chosen area of study and, in addition, you'll become a confident distance learner.
Don't forget that if you need help considering options you can talk to an adviser. And if you have some previous study experience you may qualify for credit transfer.
