Description

Through the study of German, the certificate will provide you with the opportunity to learn to read, write and speak German and understand people who speak it, while developing your cultural understanding and your knowledge of how it is structured (for example, by learning about its grammar or its vocabulary).

Through the certificate, you will also learn to become an independent language learner and to develop other transferable skills and attributes.

Planning your studies

No prior knowledge of German is required. You can register your intention to study for this certificate when you register on individual courses, or you can ask us at any time to link the courses you have already studied towards the certificate. This gives you the flexibility to delay your decision or change your mind as your studies progress.

There is no time limit for obtaining the required credit points for this qualification. You must include at least 20 points from OU or collaborative scheme courses that have not been counted in any other OU certificate, diploma or first degree you may have been awarded.
