Study this diploma if you wish to gain a good basic knowledge of economic theory together with an understanding of economic issues. You will be able to engage in economic debate and to assess different kinds of evidence and their usefulness in relation to economic theories. You will learn how to analyse economics data using basic statistical techniques and how to apply the knowledge and skills learnt by carrying out your own project work. This diploma will provide you with evidence of systematic study of economics up to honours level without having to complete a full degree. You can also use the diploma as an interim qualification on your way to a full honours degree.

If you have already completed some successful study at higher education level at another institution we may be able to give you credit that you can count towards this Open University qualification. Further details will be available when registration opens for this qualification.
On successful completion of the required modules you will be awarded a Diploma in Economics and will be entitled to use the letters Dip Econ (Open) after your name.
