The aim of this diploma course is to encourage you to obtain a thorough grounding in random processes, applied statistics – both classical and Bayesian – and in the use of widely-used statistical software. It is particularly valuable if you are studying in this area for career development purposes, and wish to obtain a qualification in statistics.
You can study this diploma as a qualification in its own right or a step on your way to an honours degree, such as the BA/BSc (Honours) Mathematics and Statistics (B36).

If you have already completed some successful study at higher education level at another institution we may be able to give you credit that you can count towards this Open University qualification. Further details will be available when registration opens for this qualification.
On successful completion of the required modules you will be awarded a Diploma in Statistics and will be entitled to use the letters Dip Stat (Open) after your name.
