Climate change, global trade, war, cultural conflict, biodiversity, poverty and the challenges of international development are among the defining features of our times. These along with similar issues such as energy, waste and sustainability are interlinked, and find a common focus in the OU’s environment, development and international studies courses.

From fuel sources to fair-trade coffee, in our interconnected world governments, organisations and individuals are all encouraged to think about the impact of their actions in environmental and international terms.

With our qualifications you can explore some of the most challenging trends and developments that are shaping our world and the individuals who inhabit it. You'll become a more enlightened citizen.
