Learning a modern language is enjoyable and rewarding. It can be your passport to a new career and perhaps a new life abroad. We offer courses from beginners’ to graduate level in French, German and Spanish; beginners' and intermediate courses in Italian; and beginners' courses in Chinese and Welsh.
Whether you’re a complete beginner, want to brush up existing skills, or are looking for a degree in languages, we can provide a flexible, step-by-step way of achieving your learning goals. You’ll develop proficiency in all four skills – reading, writing, speaking and listening. Some of our courses even offer a week at a residential school in a country where the language is spoken.
We also offer modules about the English language. Whether you want to study the history of English and its development as a global language, investigate how grammar works to create different meanings, or explore the creativity within a range of texts, our English language modules will surprise and challenge you. Modules aimed at developing your academic and professional communication skills in English are also available.

There are two ways to start a qualification. If you haven’t studied for a long time or need to build your confidence, beginning your studies with an Access module may be the right choice for you.
