This is a fascinating module for anyone interested in 20th century European history. It covers a lot of ground from the First World War right through to the fall of Communism and it covers the ground quickly. There's a lot of reading and you will need to be prepared to research independent sources, but it was interesting all the way through and I felt that I learned a lot.

A thoroughly enjoyable course but beware, it will make more demands on your precious time than most. Yes it is hard work and the amount of independent study, if you choose to do it, can be very high but oh so rewarding! It is certainly a question of striking a balance between essential and independent study but there are so many interesting research tools available as to make it addictive. I would recommend this course to anyone who wants to know how the 20th Century wove its way from the horror of WW1 to the end of the Cold War.

I came to this course full of expectation that I would love it. I was disappointed, as I thought it would give me a better understanding, of the sixties on-wards that I lived through. It did not. However, be topic focused, as the independent study that the course provides is immense, and therefore, it is very easy to miss the fundamentals of this course.
